The Altice Portugal Foundation, belonging to an international technological group, seeks to leverage its expertise and strengthen partnerships to pursue its activity, in search of effective and sustainable responses to social and global problems, developing products and solutions and investing in transformative projects , in particular for accessibility to communication for everyone, access to knowledge and, also, the democratization of art as a vehicle of culture and humanism.

The MagicContact application has been available since 2015, with technological development being carried out by MagicKey, as part of a research project at the Polytechnic of Guarda and had the collaboration of SAPO.

Since its conception phase, MagicContact has been developed with the contribution of several dozen users, caregivers, therapists and teachers. We counted on the invaluable collaboration of many Portuguese institutions that support people with neuromotor limitations and communication limitations.

CMRA The Laboratory for Access to Technology and Communication (LATeC) is integrated into the Alcoitão Rehabilitation Medicine Center (CMRA) at Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (SCML). This laboratory aims to promote the participation of people with disabilities through the selection, use and adaptation of support technologies in different areas of occupation, particularly communication. User assessment is carried out by a multidisciplinary team in terms of access to information technologies and promotion of communication, taking into account their needs, motivations, partners and context. This assessment is carried out in a systematic way using an assessment tool, with a view to selecting the most appropriate support technologies, both in terms of hardware and respective access interfaces, as well as software and, eventually, the respective contents. Following this study, counseling is also provided to the user/caregiver and possible indication for prescription/acquisition/training.

CMRA, through LATeC, has been collaborating in testing and disseminating the application.
